We already know this city by the hour
A proposal in San Sebastián lives or dies on timing. The light on La Concha turns for about twenty minutes; the Ayuntamiento takes around three weeks to clear a public space; the good tables on the Zurriola side book out by Thursday in summer.
Because we plan weddings across Gipuzkoa all year, none of that is research for us. We know which terrace is empty on a Tuesday, which viewpoint faces the sunset in May, and which photographer can work in the old town without being noticed.

The Kursaal & Zurriola

The old town & the harbour
Narrow stone streets, the fishing harbour, a balcony over the water. Intimate, lived-in, unmistakably Donostia.
La Concha & the promenade
The white balustrade, the shell-shaped bay, the tamarisk trees. The postcard — done properly, at the right hour, with the crowd kept back.
Monte Igueldo & the Peine del Viento
The funicular to the old amusement park, or Chillida’s iron combs where the swell comes through the rock. The city’s western edge — dramatic and a little wild.

Proposals is the private-moments studio of 20eventos, the wedding planning house Leire Ibáñez founded in San Sebastián in 2011. The same suppliers, the same standard — applied to ten minutes instead of a whole day.
You work with a planner who lives here, not a coordinator flown in for the date. That is the difference between a nice photo and a moment that feels like it belongs to the two of you.

Discovery call
A private conversation — how you met, what she or he loves, the level of surprise you want, your dates and your budget. We listen, then tell you honestly what is possible.

The design
You receive a proposal concept: setting, timing to the minute, styling, flowers, music, photographer and a plan B for weather. Nothing is booked until you approve it.

The moment
On the day we are on site before you arrive, coordinating every supplier out of sight. You walk in, you ask, and the rest of the day is already arranged.

Proposing in San Sebastián
Locations and permits
For a simple proposal — just the two of you, nothing set up — no. The moment you bring in furniture, flowers, a musician or a photographer’s rig on municipal ground (the La Concha promenade, the old town, Monte Igueldo), the Ayuntamiento de Donostia requires an occupation permit. We apply for it and allow about three weeks. Miramar’s gardens and private venues have their own process, which we also handle.
There is no single answer — it depends on your story and the season. Miramar for something formal with the bay behind it; the old town for something intimate; La Concha for the classic postcard; Monte Igueldo for space and drama. On the discovery call we match the setting to you, not the other way round.
That is usually the best version. A bar in the Parte Vieja where you had your first pintxo, a bench on the paseo, a spot on Zurriola — tell us, and we build the proposal around it and make it look effortless.
Timing and weather
May, June and September give you long light and mild weather without the August crowds. Winter proposals work beautifully indoors or at blue hour — the city is quiet and the light is soft. We tell you honestly what a given week is likely to look like.
Sunset on the La Concha side, sunrise on the Zurriola side — that is the short version. Sunrise also means an empty promenade and no crowd to manage, which some couples prefer. We plan the exact minute around the setting.
Every proposal we produce includes a fully planned indoor alternative that is designed to be as good as the original, not a fallback.
